Many moons ago a Buckinghamshire Guide Unit, Hughenden Valley Guides asked for my assistance leading at the Scouting Centenary Camp in Bucks. I quite happily accepted the offer for 2 reasons; the most important being ‘fun’ and the second as a tale for afterdark on a Scout camp in the future. ...read more »

Many members of Go Jamboree have been counting down from 718 days (EuroJam till WSJ) so with this being the last day of a 3 digit countdown the excitement will grow that little bit more than usual.
What is it we’re counting down to?
The 21st World Scout Jamboree is a once in every 4 year opportunity, similar to the Olympics, except that this event is extra special, we are also celebrating the 100 Year anniversary of the first camp at Brownsea Island held by Lord Robert Stephenson Smyth Baden-Powell in 1907 with 22 boys. Now a century later there are members in practically every Country and territory across the globe with memberships numbering near 29 million! ...read more »

This was to be my first independent voyage to the land of West Lancs. In previous years I’ve hitched a ride with almighty Neil a couple of times, and indeed Jon Ellison once but this year due to academic demands I’m arriving unexpectedly late home into the Easter Holidays and so I depart alone.
The Millennium Canary should be upto it, we’re going to be breaching the 50000 mile mark at some point, either on the way there or on the way back so this is a rather important milestone in the cars history. Another motion picture from the witty talents of Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright. My second ever SSAGO Ball Attendance, and my second visit in recent memory to Liverpool. Arrival was planned for around 6pm on Friday, I’d be driving up in the Millennium Canary to meet Laura at Lime St Liverpool Station. What we didn’t know was that there are infact 3 entrances, I arrived at Lord Nelson Street entrance ( 90 minutes late due to traffic around Junction 8 of the M6 and near 18-20 ) and Laura was at the Lime Street Entrance....read more »

This is of course the Rally of the SSAGO AGM, this was to be the big one, the rally where everything that had gone wrong (and the few things that went right) over the previous year I would have to face upto. I wasn’t reluctant to go, infact I was eager, I couldn’t wait to see the outcome because I knew at heart what I hadn’t done, I hadn’t done for a reason. ...read more »

Over a year ago at the European Scout Jamboree there was an epiphany, the EuroJam forum was closing and there were no plans to launch a WSJ one anytime soon. So to bridge the gap a forum for contingents was created hosted on the most obscure of hosts, hidden in the furthest deeps of the interweb, the site grew and moved onto its own pastures....read more »
