Version 2.7

Over the past year we at the My Software Studio have been working hard to present to you the 7th major feature release of version 2. We don’t think there are any backwards compatibility problems but if there are patches will be issues in the comments section below.

  • The instant_messenger module is no longer deprecated as there is a strong need for persistent interconnection.
  • We’ve been working hard on the hair_template and it now produces validated outputs, but there be can errors when bad_hair_day is TRUE.
  • The income method no longer outputs FALSE or Zero when has_job is FALSE, this is a significant and permanent feature.
  • Luck still isn’t set as a constant but testing shows symmetrical standard divination on a 33% mean.
  • The dating module is used from time to time, some adjustments have been made but the correct set or variables has yet to be found to initiate a recursive loop.
  • Improved but not complete support for Sign Language, French translation is still incomplete and Latin is rarely accessed, inaccurate and read only making it completely deprecated in a future version.
  • The skills, reference and vocabulary databases are larger but writing to them is slow as reading from them has priority.
  • Better integration with the Northampton Social Networks foreach one integrated reduces transfer times as well as increasing the potential knowledge base and fun integer.
  • The image_output method is now above fair with the aperture and shutter_speed variables, the luck variable plays some part in this function but further testing is needed.
  • The work array() over flows into the free_time
array() making hobbies and recreation completed at later dates. This might be due to a bug with the income method.

As you can see there are some significant steps in the right direction but there is still plenty of work to do. The Development Team thank you for your loyalty and hope that you continue to use our product in the future. 🙂

Websites you’ll visit once (maybe twice)

When I happen across a site with a uniquely absurd purpose, useful in the remotest likelihood I’ll need it again but not useful enough to remember, I save it. I’ve decided to share the best of the feckless bookmark bunch with you for humorous purposes,

Effectively Dating for Socks, you loose one sock or find another? This is the place to reunite them. It’s quite scarey the distances that socks manage to travel without their owners.

I don’t know how accurate other people need to me but usually I get away with the 12 places on my calculator. The guys either had a lot of hot linking problems or has made so many index pages so it gets more hits on the adsense. Bypass the junk indexes to the number here

Have you ever been watching a television series and felt its still going despite now being completely interesting? The urban phrase used for this occasion is that it has “jumped the shark”, it comes from during the series Happy Days when ‘The Fonze’ jumps a shark to try and hike up ratings. See also “Nuke the Fridge”.

Aria, as in Opera. Opera is a dramatic work which combines a text (called a libretto) and a musical score, it is also a rather good internet browser, this site is about music. You never know you might want to look up the Le Nozze di Figaro from the Shawshank Redemption.

Similar to Google Maps but on the moon, will be very useful when we get a moonbase like our parents were promised in the 70s and 80s. You’ll be able to plan you journey from your residential bubble to your friends with exact directions and timings, although at 1/6th Earths gravity you might be able to get there a little quicker.

Five websites with just enough information to entertain you but not really enough to make you check everyday. Drop a comment to let me know if you actually make use of them.

Monday

The second day without our Team Leader, all content that could go up went up by 2pm, so started on finishing the File and Directory view for the SSAGO Resources section. There are still a few bugs but I’ll tidy them up tomorrow if we finish as early again.

Having spent all this time listening to Dave and Simon battle with the server to keep their ad hoc CMS working and coding the resource viewer its got me thinking about using my new freetime post Jamboree to ‘make’ my own, it’ll have everything all my current sites have plus I’ll be able to easily refine it rather than having to learn everyone elses work first. Plus if its good enough I could offer to lend it to GGUK for their Jamboree in 2010 which if I managed to get the honour would be pretty awesome.

Anyway, thats a long term project such as the guy who wrote a novel on his mobile phone so don’t expect much on this for a while.

Left early for dinner, almost didn’t have anyone to sit with, not for being late but for being early! Luckily I managed to spy Beck and we had a pleasant conversation about sectioning of Girlguiding and Scouting and how Scouting chose to be all inclusive and GGUK do not. I wonder whether 12% of the people at the GGUK Jamboree will be Scouts? Thats the percentage of Guides in the UK Contingent to the World Scout Jamboree. Can’t really complain too much I’m in GGUK after all, Unit Leader, yay!

After dinner bumped into Jess, I’ve seen her alot around the Jamboree much more than Mary which is good I suppose because these days if Mary is around me to much I might just explode, that and Jess encourages the child in me which helps with the unwinding each evening.

Jess had with her Lucy, someone named after the Lucy in Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds.

After a extremely long wait for the Badminton court, we managed to get a few games in before the pub quiz. Now I’ve been to a few pub quizes in my time and I’ve never had one as hard as this, name the “longest rivers in these continents”, “name the currency in these countries”, “what country hosted the Jamboree in which year?” the one we actually did best in was “name that flag” that was our only 100% round, although we scored bonus points for our tinfoil B-P hat. Our team was a bit of a mismatch, Jess, Lucy, me, some random guy called James, Andy (later), Amanda and 2 other people I don’t know by name, still! One was John, I think :S

After the Quiz Jess and I had a little rumble with our lightsabers and Lucy recorded it, what can I say? We were high on Irn-Bru!
